...:::  PIG PICS-3  :::...

Many more pics are already in-house, we're building several galleries as we speak.
But these should get ya started !!
Regarding picture quality:
I realize some of these are not prize winning photos or scans. When faced with the decision of what quality to post,
I opted to let you see ALL the pics regardless of quality, rather than not let you see them at all.
Also note, the yellow-ish looking pictures are from newspaper articles that may be 15+ years old.
Regarding page load time:
Although we have taken the time to resize pictures for easier page load times, some of the files are still large & may take extra time to load, especially for dial-up users. There's also a considerable amount of pics on each page right now until we find a better way to display them.
Where to send your pics:
If you have any pictures you can add, please e-mail them to ThePowerPig@aol.com. If you only have the pictures themselves & no way to scan them into your computer for e-mailing, also e-mail us at ThePowerPig@aol.com & we'll provide you with a snail mail address you can send them to. If you should happen to want the pictures returned, we can handle that no problem. Lastly, keep in mind, if you see anything related to the Power Pig OR 93.3FLZ while surfing the net, especially pictures, e-mail us a link to where you saw it at.

WFLZ/Z93/POWER PIG/93.3FLZ's BILLBOARDS

This was one of the morning shows BEFORE Z-93, the oldies music or Dr. Don & Jack Harris had arrived.
but look up there in the center... that's Power Pig, and still today 93.3FLZ, traffic reporter Gary McHenry !!
What's the secret to Gary's longevity at the station? Well, see that propeller on his head?
He wears it everyday, running through the hall ways making his "copter copter" noises as he calls them.
We call it annoying, he calls it exercise. (PHOTO CREDIT: TeddWebb.com)

The Z93 vans weren't the only thing
to get spray painted.

When the Power Pig took over the 93.3 airwaves,
they took over the billboards too.
This one was on I-275 near I-4.

MJ BJ & OJ... it was mornings but the OJ wasn't Orange Juice.
These boards originally went up with ONLY the pictures and NO words, which of course had the entire Tampa
market a buzz. Although MJ&BJ would soon become the biggest morning show since the Q Morning Zoo,
what they looked like hadn't yet, so the faces on the boards went unknown. Some speculated that MJ&BJ were the Melendez Brothers even. OJ's attorneys of course threatened lawsuit and his face became just a blue spot on the board. But the publicity
had already been accomplished. This board was on southbound I-275 at Gandy Blvd. in Pinellas County.

And of course these two classic boards from today's 93.3FLZ and the MJ Morning Show.
The top one needs no explanation I'm sure
but for those of you who may not have heard the show,
MJ uses the word ASSCLOWN in place of words like MORON, IDIOT, etc. a lot.
The boards first went up with just the "CLASS CLOWN" part and that's MJ's high school picture.
Then a week or two later, the picture and the "CL" in CLASS iis "torn" off to reveal
a current picture of MJ (NOW a well known face) and just ASS CLOWN left.

A few recent pics from around The #1 Hit Music Channel

LEFT: Power Pig/93.3FLZ afternoon drive guy Jeff Thomas in the day when they still used carts and CD players
(never thought I'd say that!). RIGHT: Night guy Carson in the new (and current) 93.3FLZ studio. On the right in back is a 3-deck of digital 360 Systems machines used to record calls and other things (replaced reels a while back).
The cart machines are gone and CD players still in but used as back-up. Now all station elements
(songs, commercials, imaging) are in a computer system called Prophet. The one cool thing about the studio today is
that the control board is the one that launched the Power Pig. When the studios were remodeled, instead of
replacing the board it was refurbished and put back to preserve some of the Pig/FLZ history.

Froggy, then-from the MJ&BJ Morning Show sits at the "Producers Island" in the new 93.3FLZ studio,
The island is a separate workstation from the main control board area that enables the producerto play
sound effects/bits or even control what goes on the air without having to bother the host of the show..
The view below is looking from the main control board. Phone screener area is on the right.

93.3FLZ was well represented at the 1998 Billboard Magazine Radio Convention
by Uncle Fester from the MJ & BJ show, shown at left in a... diaper.
Even after that specticle, The MJ & BJ Morning Show still won for
Best Morning Radio Show.

What happens on weekend overnights if the DJ gets bored???
Former 93.3FLZ jock (now ThePowerPig.com webmaster) Brian Holmes shows us.
